More details are in the imprint. We are not required to appoint a data protection officer.
2. In short
- This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads nothing from other servers. Only technical access data is processed on our server
- The Glimy launcher runs on your PC. We run no servers for it and receive no data from you. There is no telemetry
- The launcher only connects to the services needed for playing: Microsoft and Mojang for sign-in and the game, Fabric for the mod loader and Modrinth for mods. It also asks the servers you recently played on for their player count and status. Everything is listed below with its purpose
3. This website
3.1 Hosting and access data
This website runs on a server owned by PrePlay Host UG (haftungsbeschränkt) in a data centre in Germany. When you open a page, the server processes technically necessary access data: your IP address, date and time, the requested address, the status code, the amount of data transferred, the previously visited page (referrer) if your browser sends it, and your browser's identifier (user agent). Without this data the server cannot deliver the page.
The purpose is to deliver the page to you and to keep the service secure, for example to detect attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is a secure, working website. We keep the logs for no more than 14 days, with the IP address shortened (the last block is removed), and then delete them automatically. Individual entries are kept longer only when a specific security incident has to be investigated, and only until it is resolved.
3.2 No cookies, no tracking
This website stores nothing on your device and reads nothing from it. There are no cookies, no JavaScript, no analytics or advertising services, no embedded videos and no social media buttons. The fonts are served from our own server. That is why no consent under § 25 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act) is needed.
3.3 Contact by email
If you write to us, we process your email address, your name if given, and the content of your message to reply to you. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where it concerns using Glimy, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We delete the message once it is dealt with, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. Writing to us is entirely voluntary.
3.4 Links to other sites
This website links to sites run by others, such as Microsoft, Modrinth and minecraft.net. Your browser only connects to them when you click a link. Their privacy policy applies there.
4. The Glimy launcher
The launcher is a program on your PC. It talks directly to the services named below. We ourselves receive no data from you
in the process. Each service sees your IP address. Requests made by the launcher itself also
carry the identifier Glimy-Launcher/version. These services are responsible for what they do with the data; their privacy notices
are linked. The connections are needed so that you can play Minecraft with Glimy (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
4.1 Signing in with Microsoft
You sign in on Microsoft's page (login.microsoftonline.com), in your browser or with a code on another device.
You only enter your password there; Glimy never sees it. The launcher then exchanges the sign-in with Xbox Live
(user.auth.xboxlive.com, xsts.auth.xboxlive.com) and Minecraft
(api.minecraftservices.com) for a game sign-in, checks that your account owns Minecraft: Java Edition and loads
your player profile: player name, player ID and skin. Until Microsoft and Mojang have approved sign-in for Glimy, it is
switched off in the launcher.
Providers: Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, Dublin, Ireland, together with Microsoft Corporation in the USA, and Mojang AB, Stockholm, Sweden. Privacy notice: privacy.microsoft.com.
4.2 What is stored on your PC
- Sign-in: encrypted in Windows Credential Manager, not in a file
- Accounts: player name, player ID, the address of your skin, which account is active and when it was last used
- Recently played servers: name and address of servers you joined and when you last joined them, so you can find them again
- Settings, profiles, game files, mods and a cache for images such as mod icons and skin heads
- Acceptance of the terms of use: which version you accepted in the launcher and when, so it asks again when a new version comes out
- Logs for troubleshooting. Sign-in data is masked in them
Everything is in the folder %APPDATA%\Glimy and never leaves your PC. When you remove an account in the
launcher, Glimy deletes the stored sign-in as well. Deleting the folder removes everything else.
4.3 Game files and Java
The launcher downloads Minecraft, its libraries, sounds and textures, and Java directly from Mojang
(piston-meta.mojang.com, piston-data.mojang.com, launchermeta.mojang.com, launcher.mojang.com, libraries.minecraft.net, resources.download.minecraft.net).
Glimy itself ships no Minecraft.
4.4 Fabric
For profiles with Fabric the launcher downloads the mod loader from meta.fabricmc.net and maven.fabricmc.net, run by the Fabric project; see fabricmc.net.
4.5 Mods, shaders and packs from Modrinth
When you search for or install mods, shaders, resource packs or modpacks, the launcher sends your search terms, the
Minecraft version and checksums of your installed files (for updates) to Modrinth (api.modrinth.com) and
downloads files and images from cdn.modrinth.com. Fabric API, Mod Menu and, if you want them, Sodium and Iris
come from there as well. Provider: Rinth, Inc., USA. Privacy notice: modrinth.com/legal/privacy.
4.6 Skins
For the picture of your player head the launcher downloads your skin from textures.minecraft.net, a Mojang
service.
4.7 Servers you play on
To show player counts and status for your recently played servers, the launcher contacts those servers directly. The server operator sees your IP address, just as when you play. The operator of a server is responsible for the data it processes while you play.
5. The Glimy client in game
The Glimy mod opens no connections of its own and sends nothing. Minecraft itself connects to Mojang and Microsoft services under Mojang's rules, for example for sign-in, skins, chat reporting and Mojang's own diagnostic data. Mojang is responsible for that, not us.
6. Transfers outside the EU
Microsoft and Modrinth are also based in the USA. When the launcher connects to them, data such as your IP address may reach the USA. For US companies certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the European Commission's adequacy decision applies. You can check whether a company is certified at dataprivacyframework.gov.
7. Your rights
Where we process data about you, you have these rights:
- Access (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
Right to object: Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you can object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).
Just write to glimy@preplayhost.com.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is: Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Sachsen-Anhalt, Otto-von-Guericke-Straße 34a, 39104 Magdeburg, datenschutz.sachsen-anhalt.de
There is no automated decision-making or profiling.
8. Changes
When Glimy or this website changes, we update this policy. The version with the date at the top of this page applies. If the German and English versions differ, the German version prevails.
