What is Glimy?
Glimy, also known as Glimy Client, is a free launcher with its own Fabric client for Minecraft: Java Edition. In the launcher you pick a profile and version, get mods, shaders and resource packs and start the game. Glimy is in alpha right now and comes to Windows first.
Is Glimy an official Minecraft product?
No. Glimy is not an official Minecraft product and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. Glimy is developed by PrePlay Host UG (haftungsbeschränkt).
What does Glimy cost?
Nothing. Glimy is free. All you need is your own copy of Minecraft: Java Edition.
Can I use Glimy without buying Minecraft?
No. Before starting, Glimy checks with Mojang that your Microsoft account owns Minecraft: Java Edition. There is no offline mode without a purchase.
Can I sign in with Glimy yet?
Not yet. Sign-in with Microsoft is built into Glimy, but it can only be used once Microsoft and Mojang have approved it for Glimy. Until then we only test Glimy internally, without Microsoft sign-in and with test data.
Does Glimy see my password?
No. You sign in on Microsoft's page in your browser, or with a code on another device. Afterwards Glimy only receives the sign-in for the game, never your password.
Where does Glimy keep my sign-in?
Only on your PC, encrypted in Windows Credential Manager. Glimy has no servers of its own. When you remove an account in the launcher, Glimy deletes the stored sign-in as well.
Does Glimy collect data about me?
No. No telemetry, no ads, no analytics. Glimy only connects to the services it needs for playing. The privacy policy lists them.
Can I use Glimy on servers?
Glimy contains no cheats and nothing that gives you an unfair edge. Still, every server has its own rules, and some do not allow zoom or any mods at all. Read the server's rules before you play.
Which Minecraft version does Glimy run with?
The Glimy client runs with every version of Minecraft 26 (26.x). The launcher starts other versions as well, vanilla and Fabric, then without the Glimy mod.
Can I bring my worlds and mods along?
Yes. Glimy can take over your existing Minecraft folder as a profile of its own. Your old folder stays as it is.
Where do the mods in the launcher come from?
From Modrinth. The mods belong to their authors and are under their licences. Glimy downloads them from Modrinth and checks that every file arrives unchanged.
Which systems does Glimy run on?
Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) first.
When will the download be available?
As soon as Microsoft and Mojang have approved sign-in for Glimy. See status and download for where things stand.
